I actually started journalling everyday last summer, and it helped me greatly with organising my thoughts and managing my anxiety while moving to a different country. However, once I moved, it became a little difficult for me to maintain the everyday streak (I just wouldn't be able to gather enough motivation to write every night). So, once every day became once every few days, which became once every week which led to me taking a hiatus from journalling at all. I have been able to maintain a healthier relationship with journalling now with writing here!

Your journal is an idea hoard. All of my Substack articles are pulled out of journal entries or letters.

I love this as much as I love journaling. Morning pages in a notebook, here.

Thanks for the reminder to just simply journal. I used to journal in Day One, even if it was just taking a single picture of the day. Then I somehow approached journaling as a more serious task, even noting my emotional state by some quick tag feature in Roam. What a strange thing to do. Just use words.

Now the habit found a way to undo itself, and I need to get back to the basics.

ps. "Simply Journal" would be a clever name for a little course by you 🙂

Thanks for the tip on even writing just one thing from your day. It overwhelms me just the thought of journaling. Good advice. Love, Mom

Thanks for sharing this. Really interesting about the way journaling does not really change behavior much. What is the app you are using?
