Wow man. As a dad, I can just begin to imagine what you're going through. You're in my prayers, and I hope that doesn't sound trite to you because I don't mean it that way. Thank you for this, it encouraged me.
Well said Lyle, we are hoping to start a family soon and I’ve always felt like I needed to be “ready” for it. Thanks for providing some insight into what first time fathers feel like. I would want my kids to be proud of me and I don’t always feel like that about myself. I appreciate you opening up, it makes it easier for me to feel “ready” even though we never really are…
I'm glad my piece helped you in some small way. Fatherhood is a whirlwind, especially early on. Mothers tend to have a deeper connection with the child right off the bat, but that's partly because they carried the child for all those months. So, in a way, fathers are playing catch up. I don't think there's such thing as being truly ready for fatherhood, but you can figure it out, I'm sure. :)
This is such a powerful story, Lyle. I was almost too afraid to comment because I couldn't find any words, but I just want to let you know that I read it and felt it and appreciate you for writing it.

Thanks man, it doesn’t sound trite at all. I’m glad this helped you.
So happy to hear about Em’s swallow study results! Another great story Lyle.
Thank you, Leslie! I’m so proud of Em. Allison is excited to try different foods and flavors with her now too.
This post had me in tears, Lyle. Thank you for sharing these life-changing experiences of fatherhood with us.
Thank you for reading and for the comment, Swarnali! You made my day 😊
