♡ I loved that you shared this video of George Mark - I don't often get to have this in-depth view of places that set the standard or model how optimal treatment should be. Thank you!

Lyle!! This is SO exciting all around!! And I know a lot of it is nerve wracking but the GOOD thrilling kind, like careening around a rollercoaster! Sounds like for Em too... hopefully she loves kindergarten and can return to Children’s House soon. And MEGA Congrats on the new Foster role, well deserved of course!! 👏🏼 🔥 🍫 You got this!!

The candy bar emoji got me good! Bars!!

All of this is wonderful. I think Em will surprise you with the skills she comes home from school with. It is just so different being surrounded by people who aren’t family. I wish her (and Sara, and you two!) a peaceful, smooth transition.

Half Moon Bay!! I love that place. I used to live just on the other side of the hills, in San Mateo. I hope you enjoyed it enough for all of us!

Thanks, Nicci! You’re totally right about school. We saw that happen in preschool too. Plus, the staff there has so much more knowledge and experience with kids like Em that they know how much she’s capable of. This is our first go-round with cerebral palsy. I’m excited to watch her grow up more!

Congrats on Foster!! And so glad the home helped you and your wife get away and have time to yourselves. Hope for more holidays where you guys can have you time

Thanks! And yes, we've already scheduled two more trips!

God love respite. So glad Em enjoyed it (even too much). It's so important for families like ours. Fingers and toes crossed for an excellent school year. You've got this, Lyle!

Thank you, Kris! Places like George Mark Children’s House are so needed. We’re grateful that we’re now a part of their extended family.

Now I want to go work there.

At George Mark House?

I’m actually going to expand on this in my next post, but I had a huge fight with my landlord, and now I’m looking for a new place to stay. It sucks.

Lyle McKeany's avatar

Ugh, sorry to hear that, Andrei. Dealing with landlords can be the worst.

Felt so happy reading your updates today. I felt challenged by your question, though! I’m so head down in my “projects” at the moment that I haven’t really named them as “change”, but as I reflect I realize that change is really the whole point of projects! Finishing a first draft of my book proposal, diving more deeply into coaching clients, training for a 10k... all part of the ever-flowing evolution into my future self?

Lyle McKeany's avatar

Finishing a first draft of a book proposal is a big deal and an inching toward a big change in the future! Sometimes we can’t see the big changes as easily because they happen gradually. Keep pushing your projects forward and in time you’ll look back and see how far you’ve come.

You are always such an inspiration, Lyle. Thank you for this beautiful piece. Your life is so full, how you find time to write is beyond me.

Lyle McKeany's avatar

I have barely found time lately. I’m excited to be able to write more regularly soon here, though

Congrats on having a date day & night! Recharging batteries is essential. And congrats on the Foster gig!! Looking forward to what's coming.
