Yeah, I was surprised, and bummed, to hear it too. They’ve donated over $500M since they started the program, which for Amazon is a tiny drop in their massive bucket. I’m guessing they thought charities would push it more and that would drive growth. At this point they’re so big it probably doesn’t really move the needle. But sometimes companies should just do something because it’s the right thing to do.
"Hanging out at the intersection between the stories we tell and the stories we tell ourselves." This is perfect. Everyone can identify with this dichotomy, but could not have written it down so succinctly. Thank you for allowing us to still read when we cannot afford to pay. (However, soon as I, myself, can go paid, then I can be a paid subscriber to Lyle McKeany! Deal?)
I didn’t know that about Amazon. That’s incredibly disappointing.

Soon enough it will be state to state, and I'm glad to be on that map, Lyle.
Thank you, Edward!
Way to go Lyle! Yep, good time to move up and on -- it looks like your following is growing and that's a great testament to your writing.
I had no idea about the Amazon thing. Super disappointed. And - great idea to move your 10% donation over here.
Thanks, Minna!
Sending love to you and your family
Thank you, Barbara!
Hey Libor! Thanks for checking out my writing. I think you might've meant to share this comment on the Substack shoutout thread, though.
